What You Should Bring To Our Meeting

I hope that the list below will be helpful to you in ensuring that you bring along all the documents needed to our appointment. However, if you have any queries at all about what you should bring, please do contact me.

  1. The document you require to be notarised.

  2. If the document is in a foreign language, I will need to have a translation of it into English and please see further information on this under the tab ‘Terms of Business’.

  3. Any instructions and advice on the document that you have received from a foreign lawyer or agent acting in the matter.

If you are an individual:

  1. Your current and original passport or photo card driving licence or national identity card.

  2. Proof of your current address such as a utility bill, credit card or bank statement, Council tax bill less than three months old or other  official paperwork with your name and address on it.

  3. Where the name on the document to be notarised is different from the name you are currently using, or there has been a variation  in the spelling of your name over the years, please bring  Certificates of Birth, Marriage Degree, Degree of Divorce or Change of Name by Deed Poll showing all the names you have used  or are using at the present time.

If you represent a company, a partnership, association or club:

  1. All the documents required for an individual and, in addition:

  2. Proof of authority to represent the company, partnership, association or club. For a company, for example,  this will include a company resolution, the relevant minutes and other documentation such as a power of attorney. I will also need a copy of the memorandum of association and up-to-date articles of association, and may need access to the company’s registers of officers and members. I will need to undertake searches at and obtain documents from Companies House. I will advise on any likely fees once I know what is required to be done. 

  3. The current letterhead of the company, partnership, association or club. For partnerships and clubs, the most up-to-date partnership agreement, relevant trust deed, Charter, constitution or rules.

If you represent a company incorporated outside the UK:

  1. All the documents required for an individual and where relevant for a company as set out above and

  2. Evidence of the registration and constitution of the company in the relevant country. Assistance with this may be available from your legal advisor or I can make enquiries and searches at foreign company registries where required.
